Bunk bed

A loft bed with a desk underneath it in The Sims 4: Dream Home Decorator.
A bunk bed is a type of bed in The Sims Online, certain The Sims 3 expansion packs and The Sims 3 Store sets, and The Sims 4. Bunk beds consist of two single beds stacked on top of each other, with the upper one accessible via a ladder. A similar object is the loft bed. It works the same way as a bunk bed but without the bottom bed, often allowing for certain objects to be placed below the loft.

The Sims 3
Bunk beds were initially introduced in The Sims 3: Generations, which added 4 bunk beds, as well as 4 loft beds that are directly based on them.
Additional bunk beds were later added in The Sims 3: Supernatural, The Sims 3: University Life, and The Sims 3: Into the Future, with one bunk bed and their corresponding loft beds in each of those 3 expansion packs. 3 bunk beds are also known to be for sale in various The Sims 3 Store sets.
All bunk beds have rather low stats regardless of prices, with all 10 bunk beds and all 10 loft beds having an Energy stat of 4, a Comfort stat of 1, and a Stress Relief stat between 2 and 4, making the sleeping Sims susceptible to the
"Bad Night's Sleep" -15 moodlet for 6 hours.
Bunk and loft beds typically have a special slot, so that a small item can hang down from the top bed.
A widely known minor glitch is that Sims will often climb up to the top bed through a wall, instead of inherently preferring the other ladder if only the latter one has free space around it. Patch 57 attempted to fix it but did not succeed at doing so. Placing an obstacle on the other side of wall-facing ladder's wall will prevent Sims from doing that.
Sometimes, Sims who wake up in the top bunk can be very daring and jump off.[confirmation needed]

The Sims 4
A promo image from the announcement of Sims 4 bunk beds in March 2021.
Bunk beds were added to the Sims 4 base game in patch 109 in March 2021. Bunk beds are sold in build mode in their loft bed form, with a slot underneath for various objects. Objects that can be slotted underneath loft beds include single beds, double beds, toddler beds, infant cribs, sleeping bags[TS4:GTO][TS4:HR], desks, living chairs, loveseats, benches and dressers.
Bunk bed settings in build mode.
One of the bed's ladders is automatically removed when the bed is placed against a wall, but the player can disable this feature. Turning off the "Auto Bunk Beds" setting allows players to manually choose which ladder is hidden.
Bunk beds are an efficient way to house Sims with limited space. The top and bottom bunk count as two separate beds for roommates in The Sims 4: Discover University, allowing the player to make more compact bedrooms in university housing or when renting out a residential lot.
