The flying disc is an object that Sims and others can throw and catch.
The Sims 3: Pets

A pre-release screenshot appeared to show a dog playing fetch with a frisbee, though there have been very few (if any) indications that this carried over into the released expansion pack.

The Spinnin' and Winnin' Flying Disc is an inventory object in The Sims 3: University Life. It is used by two Sims to play catch very similarly to (if not identically to) American footballs and baseballs.
Despite the object's description appearing to imply it would be closer to the Rebel social group than the Jock group, the game and at least one opportunity treats it as a Jock item.
Notes
- The default blue palette appears to have texture artifacts that are not present in the other two (pink and green) standard palettes.
- Enrolled students can get the object for free at a Student Services Booth.
