Mimsy, also referred to in-game as Lady Mimsy Alcorn Shallot, is a pre-made NPC ghost residing in Windenburg, the world shipped with The Sims 4: Get Together.
Biography
Mimsy is a ghost that haunts the Von Haunt Estate along with her fellow departed husband, Bernard.
In the past, she was especially fond of botany and gardening. She lived in the estate with Bernard prior to her death, and the two were in an arranged marriage that then sprouted into love. Before she married Bernard, she enjoyed the grand balls held by her parents, indicating she came from a wealthy family.
She is said to have saved the Von Haunt Estate from bankruptcy due to her large dowry during a crisis in sausages of 1892. However, she died before having any descendants to share said fortune with, after Bernard, who was an eccentric painter, one day set fire to a watercolor canvas he was displeased with, setting fire to the entire manor, burning Mimsy alive in her sleep.
In the dining room of the mansion, a portrait of Lady Mimsy can be seen, with a description that reads:
"The haunting portrait of Lady Mimsy Alcorn Shallot was painted on the very afternoon before she perished in her sleep from an unfortunate estate fire. The exact cause of the fire is still a mystery. These days, she's much more transparent. Visit The Von Haunt Estate and your Sims might get a chance to meet her... um... in person?"
Additionally, if the player has a Sim look at said painting, a notification will appear that reads the following:
"Lady Mimsy Alcorn Shallot
1872-1898"
Presently, Mimsy can be found wandering around on the estate lot. Her most common actions include treating her garden, walking through the labyrinth, and playing the piano next to the wedding arch in the estate's garden. She is nicknamed "The Green Lady" or "The Ghost Gardener" by locals. She can also appear at the bars during the Ghost Night, appearing at onsen bathhouses[TS4:SE], or roaming around in the entire neighborhood by having Remembrance and/or Spooky Spirit traditions though player-created custom holidays[TS4:S].
Trivia
- She might be inspired by the character Lady of Shalott, from the ballad of the same name, by Alfred, Lord Tennyson, where the protagonist lives in a castle and is not allowed to look over to the city of Camelot, or else she is cursed. When she does so, she is killed by the cold weather while attempting to escape on a boat.
- If she is taken to Create a Sim, she will not have a name or surname.
- If she eats an Ambrosia as a means of resurrection, she'll be a normal Sim again, but she'll still keep her ghost abilities, like scaring Sims or possessing objects.
- She can also be revived by a spellcaster with the Dedeathify spell.[TS4:ROM]
- She does not age even if she is resurrected.
- After she has been resurrected, it is possible to get Mimsy to move into a household without cheats by convincing her to divorce her husband and, after having a playable Sim marry her (the player can either elope or have a wedding). After they are married, the option to split the household will appear (the game will generate a household with her and her ex-husband, which allows her to move into the active household). It should be noted that doing this will produce another Mimsy and Bernard at the Von Haunt Estate.
- When a Sim looks at her painting, a notification will appear saying that she lived from 1872 to 1898, meaning that she was 26 when she died.
- When asked to join a club, both she and Bernard will decline and say, "My soul is spoken for". This may be due to them being registered as ghosts in-game.
- In the Reaper's Rewards Event, one of the rewards is a portrait of Mimsy, with some lower parts of the frame charred.
- This could be a reference to her death, since it was due to a fire.
- If a Sim looks at the portrait, the picture can change, showing Mimsy being hugged from behind by a ghostly Bernard, and some dark paint spilling from the top while a scary tune plays in the background. The Sim who looked at the picture will feel scared after that.
- She is the author of The Green Lady's Lost Tome, another reward from the Reaper's Rewards Event, according to the item description. The description of the item revealed that the tome contains the secrets of making Ambrosia.
