The Public Library is a community lot in The Sims Bustin' Out for handheld. It is accessible after starting Mission 2-3, "Reopening the Library". The library is open from 10 AM to 6 PM (18:00)
Story
Hester Primm tells the player that she runs the SimValley Library and invites them to stop by. The player then asks if the library will be open soon, and she replies that there is a book-worm infestation and it won't be open for some time. The player tells her they are willing to squash the bugs, and she agrees, telling them that she needs a couple more tasks done. After all the tasks are completed, she sets the player up with a library card, and they can read books in the library to increase their skill levels.
This is needed in order to access the Haunted Shack and meet Ephram Earl.
Woodworm minigame
You can only play this once as it is part of the story. This isn't a usual minigame as it takes place in the real-time Sim world, as in you are interacting with the woodworms like objects and still need to take care of motives.
The rules of the minigame are simple. Woodworms are all over the floor. To get rid of one, walk near it. The player will then do a stomping animation, and the woodworm will disappear. The player must do this for all of the woodworms, but they can run away quickly, so run towards them and touch them. There are more woodworms upstairs as well. The minigame is completed once all of the woodworms are squashed.
Multiplayer computer
In the middle of the ground floor of the Library, there is a computer on a desk that the player can interact with.
- In the GBA version: Using the option "Establish GBA Link". This allows the player to connect with another Game Boy Advance system using a GBA Game Link Cable. Doing so will unlock the Paradise Island location, which can be accessible from the Docks.
- In the N-Gage version: An option is shown to turn on the N-Gage's Bluetooth. If done, the player can host/join local multiplayer auctions. An option to "Change Bluetooth Name" is also available to change the N-Gage device's name when other devices scan for nearby Bluetooth devices.
Notes
- When completing the "Reopening the Library" mission, Hester Primm incorrectly claims the library is open from 9 AM to 5 PM (17:00), when in fact it open from 10 AM to 6 PM (18:00).
