A sandpit, or sandbox, is a playground object introduced in The Sims 3: Generations. Children can play in the sand, build sandcastles, and even bury items from their inventory. Teens can only "hang out" in the pit, where they sit down and socialize while scraping the sand around.

Note that after an unclear patch number, Sims (including teens, adults, and elders) can also play with sand on any sand terrain surface.
