Scrap is a kind of material used for crafts arts in The Sims 3: Ambitions. Each Sim can pick up and carry an indefinite amount of scrap in their inventories, they can use it for many kinds of skills, such as Inventing. As it can be bought and traded in varying amounts, it is a de facto currency.
Though Sims cannot buy only 1 unit at a time when buying at a Scraptronic Workbench, the batches of 10, 50, and 100 are priced such that each unit in a batch costs §5.50, making scrap de facto one of very few objects in the Sims franchise that are priced in decimals.
Methods to get scrap
- Buying from an Scraptronic Workbench.
- Digging through junkyard-type junk piles.
- Using the Miner.
- Detonating objects.
- Rummaging through garbage cans.
- Smashing objects (SimBots only).
