The University Welcome Kit is a portable object that came with The Sims 3: University Life. With it the player can have Sims use it to:

• Take Sims University Aptitude Test. (Only available in main neighborhoods.)
• Get University Freebies.
• Summon the university llama mascot. (Only available in main neighborhoods.)

When moving in a new household at the start of a savefile if University Life is installed, the university mascot will drop by within 3 in-game hours and drop by a welcome kit. Alternately, it can also be bought in Buy Mode.

Take Sims University Aptitude Test

The game itself recommends for a Sim to take the aptitude test before enrolling, as it can give the Sim a headstart on credits towards a degree (up to 18 of the needed 48 credits) based on their skill levels, and some extra money (up to circa §1,875) for use while at Sims University (The money is returned if the Sim leaves university early).

Taking the aptitude test can also spawn an opportunity about going to university. Enrolling while the opportunity is active will give the Sim's household an extra §100.

Get University Freebies

Gives the Sim a green-white T-shirt with a university logo and randomly picked pants, and a Fight Song Flag. The shirt does not override any existing outfits, and is not added to a Sim's selectable outfits either. A new flag is acquired each time the action is selected, and they can be sold for up to §5 each, potentially providing some extra money to pay bills with.
