A deep fryer is a cooking object available on The Sims 3 Store, used to cook various exclusive meals.

By default, it allows cooking 9 meals, prefixed with "Deep Fried (...)". They can be cooked at any time of the day, have no skill requirements, and do not seem to make use of inventory ingredients.

Deep Fried Bacon usually gives the "Better With Bacon" moodlet, while all 8 other meals usually give the moodlet. Occasionally the Sim can instead get the "Indigestion" moodlet.

None of its exclusive meals can be made with the food synthesizer.^[TS3:ITF]

After using it 5 times, the fryer begins looking dirty, and indicates a need to clean it. From the 6th time onwards without having cleaned it, green smoke arises from the fryer as well.

It being dirty does not instantly result in making inedible meals. The more times the fryer is used after that without having been cleaned, the food quality descends by roughly one step for each additional cooked meal without cleaning it, eventually resulting in Horrifying quality meals being made. As with most other food items in the game, low food qualities will have the meals marked as "Spoiled", making most Sims nauseous when eating them.

The game's autonomy system has Sims use the fryer often, but they do not autonomously clean the fryer, which can lead to remarkable situations where hungry Sims cook with a stale fryer, take one bite, get nauseous, and then cook again with the stale fryer because they're still hungry, potentially resulting in an indefinite action loop.

Dual functions with ice cream maker

If a deep fryer and an ice cream maker^[Store] are on the same lot, an additional 3 meals can be made:

• Deep Fried Ice Cream
• Deep Fried Ice Cream Fritter
• Deep Fried Maple Bacon Ice Cream

These usually give the "Deep Fried Goodness" moodlet. They are only available as single servings.

Having both appliances on the active household's residential lot will show a notification claiming that they "have completed the New Kitchen Appliance Series", which gives 500 lifetime happiness to all members of the household.

There is technically also a 4th dual-appliance meal called Deep Fried Fritter, which is spawned when a Sim is preparing Deep Fried Ice Cream Fritter in the deep fryer and then begins walking towards the ice cream maker with the plate to finish the cooking. However, even with Moveobjects to ensure the plate doesn't vanish when the action is canceled, the only interaction possible with the Deep Fried Fritter meal when placed on a table is "Clean Up", and it cannot be dragged around.
