Temperance is an NPC ghost featured in The Sims 4: Paranormal Stuff. She is a mean ghost that will randomly appear in a haunted house with the purpose of making it more difficult to raise spiritual volatility and making the lives of Sims living in the house more difficult.
She'll appear for the first time on the fifth night, and once she appears, she will begin creating more cursed objects, interrupting interactions with specters and extinguishing ghastly candles, alongside doing typical angry ghost interactions, such as scaring sims and destroying objects. Sims that are in the same room as Temperance will receive a scared moodlet.
To prevent Temperance from causing chaos, Sim can ask Claude René Duplantier Guidry, who will grant the Sim a small idol, which will distract her, and eventually, she will leave the lot. If Bonehilda is active on the lot, she will autonomously start fighting with Temperance (and will always win), forcing her to eventually leave the lot. This is because Temperance and Bonehilda are heavily implied to be sisters, and Guidry apparently left Temperance to pursue Bonehilda.[1]
Temperance glows red, since she has a permanent, very angry mood, which presumably means she died of a cardiac explosion. The mood is linked to the hidden trait in the same way as a very sad mood is linked to the Night Wraith trait.
Trivia
- She has an ongoing feud with Guidry, a former love interest, whom she grew jealous of. In My Wedding Stories, it is revealed that he left her to pursue her sister, heavily implied to be Bonehilda.[1]
- She can be interacted with and even befriended like every normal sim, but since she's in a permanent, very angry mood, she'll reject most interactions and autonomously perform mean interactions in return, making it very difficult to build a relationship with her.
- Temperance cannot be asked to join in group seances, even though Guidry and Bonehilda can.
- She is one of the only NPCs in The Sims series to be the main antagonist of a Stuff Pack.
- Temperance may be a nod to Temperance 'Bones' Brennan from Bones.
