Fairy dust or pixie dust is an object in The Sims: Makin' Magic, The Sims 3: Supernatural, and The Sims 4: Enchanted by Nature. They are generally associated with, and created by, fairies, but can be used by most or all known life states once they've acquired the dust.

| Pixie Dust is often mistaken for its close relative, Faerie Dust, due to the fact that the two look quite similar. However, they can be easily distinguished by observing that Pixie Dust is quite a lot dustier than Faerie Dust. | |

Faerie Dust

|---|---|
| Faeries don't sweat. Instead, they exude a very fine dusty substance which, interestingly enough, is usually called "Faerie Dust." While the potency of this dust in spell-crafting is unquestioned, it's been found that it will only work for children, as adults do not REALLY believe in Faeries. | |

Fairy dust in The Sims 3: Supernatural comes in glass jars. Using it on a Sim will give the
"Flight of Felicity" +40 moodlet, during which time the Sim can choose "I Can Fly" on themselves even if they aren't fairies. Fairy dust will also cure zombification if it is used on a zombie (who will also get Flight of Felicity during the process).
Fairy dust jars are somehow hard to come by without mods. The easiest method, especially for non-fairies and single households, is to Search for Fairies at an arboretum, which has an approximately 30.76% chance to give the Sim one jar.
Fairies can create jars on command, but the procedure is rather convoluted: The fairy has to create a jar of fairy dust to give to another Sim (They cannot give the jar directly to themselves), and the other Sim then has to choose to use it on others or to themselves, or to transfer the jar between inventories through dragging or gifting.
Another possibility, albeit an exceedingly rare one, is to complete part 1 (of 4) of the Becoming a Fairy opportunity quest line, which will reward the Sim with one jar of dust.
As of 1 November 2025, three game mods are known to exist that simplify the process of generating fairy dust:
- Enhanced Fairies by PuddingFace, which allows fairies to generate dust for their own inventories.
- NRaas Debug Enabler allows clicking on ground (Preferably within lots) → NRaas → Debug Enabler → Options… → Create Object → accessoryJarFairyDust,EP07
- Unavailable Objects Made Available by Dandelion Sprout,[note 1] which makes fairy dust show up in Buydebug → Misc.

Fairy dust in The Sims 4: Enchanted by Nature comes in rainbow piles of fairy dust. Using it on plants will enchant them for 3 Sim days, during this time the plant will be immune to bugs, weeds, and also be watered, but won't be fertilized.
Enchanted plants also mature and evolve faster than other plants. Enchanted plants, however, are at risk of attracting pixies, which will obstruct Sims from interacting with the enchanted plants until they have been shooed away.
Fairy dust can also be used on garden gnomes to animate them for a period of time to perform certain tasks such as:
- Cleaning - Gnomes brought to life for cleaning will teleport to dirty items, trash cans, and trash piles to keep your humble abode sparkling clean!
- Repairing and Upgrading - Gnomes brought to life for repairs and upgrades will teleport near broken objects to fix them and upgradeable objects to upgrade them.
- Gardening - Gnomes brought to life for gardening will teleport near plants to keep things watered, weeded, and sprayed for bugs.
- Protection - Gnomes brought to life for protecting will defend a household with their lives thwarting Evil Gnomes and even the Grim Reaper.
Each of these requires at least 5 fairy dust in the inventory with repairing and upgrading requiring 10 fairy dust.
However, the player will be warned with the added messages to the interactions: "WARNING: Evil Gnomes are watching this prohibitive use of fairy magic. Use with caution lest you anger the Gnome High Council."
Fairy dust can be found through variety of ways:
- Asking fairies for fairy dust.
- Shaking a fairy home for fairy dust.
- Foraging in Everdew.
- Left on the ground from a fairy using their abilities.
- (Fairies) "Collect Daily Fairy Dust Ration" at the Mosswell Fairy Hub rabbit hole in Everdew, Innisgreen.
Notes
- ↑ Disclosure: The gamemod was by the same person who created this wiki page.
Trivia
- The concept of collecting daily rations of fairy dust in Enchanted by Nature is strongly based on the system used in the Disney Fairies books and movies, where fairies were also entitled to 1 daily ration (but got it brought to them instead of having to go to a place).
