Alice's Sorrow Quest
When asking Alice about Alice's Sorrow, a pop-up appears with this quote:
As sand rained down in my final resting bed and I clenched the red flowers in my hands...all I could think of were my children. What happened to them? I don't know where they are, but I can feel their locations... their Essence. Please, I must know what became of them.
With a yes or no option. Saying yes will start this questline.
| Alice's Sorrow Find what became of Alice's family | ||
|---|---|---|
| Task | Description | Discovery |
| Find Deimos | He rests where others may rest...in the darkness...underground. Find Deimos by Exploring any Crypt. | Deimos Son of Alice. Skeptical, Genius and Macabre. Lived a full life and passed away as an elder from death by Cowplant. His very last word as he accepted his fate of getting swallowed whole was "Sentenced..." |
| Find Freddy | He has forgotten his Sim nature...but as they say, it takes a village to raise a child. Find Freddy the Specter by the playground in the center of the Crow's Crossing neighborhood of Ravenwood. | Alice? Hmm... Alice... Alice! She was...my...mother! I remember her face as much as I remember my Sim nature, which is to say, not much at all. There is one thing I do remember though-her unconditional love. |
| Find Ann | Always by my side, but now remote and at peace...surrounded by fields and water...an island. Find Ann's gravestone on a small island in the river running through the Whispering Glen neighborhood of Ravenwood. | Beloved Mother and Wife Ann dedicated her life to the education of children, and she inspired so many. She was the one Sim everyone agreed on. |
| Find Edith | I feel anger and fear...next a place with village riches, where wishes can turn to dreams or nightmares. Find Edith by the Well of Longing and Regret in the Crow's Crossing neighborhood of Ravenwood. | Mother...she is not the reason I died...no....but I drowned here and am now bound to this accursed well forever! |

Once finished with the quest, a pop-up with the quote reads:
A weight has been lifted... I no longer wallow in this ocean of sorrow; unshackled from these chains that kept me down. Thank you...thank you for finding my children. My Guardian Tree now opens to you.
The Sim who finished the quest will also become instant good friends with Alice. Alice will also no longer be sad by default and will instead be happy due to her closure.
Ravenwood Rumors
This tree was long gnarled and elderly, even before I came to find myself tied here somehow. It has a pull to it; it truly does seem like a guarding force that protects and watches over me. Sometimes, Sims will come and offer gifts to it. I’ve always felt as if trees could communicate with one another somehow, and after all this time…in a way, I think I can communicate with the Guardian Tree myself.
Have you had a chance to find my little girl, Edith? You’ll find the glowing well that she’s made her home over in Crow’s Crossing. I don’t understand how it happened, but she has such a temper now. I promise you, she was a sweet-tempered, mild little girl before. I feel so sad that I can’t travel to see her. If only I could be there to soothe her again.
Trivia
- Alice may be a reference to the legend of La Llorona, a vengeful ghost in Mexican folklore who is believed to be the spirit of a woman who drowned her children after learning of her husband's unfaithfulness.
- Alice has a special eye color that cannot be selected in CAS unless she is a Ghost. If she is resurrected via the Dedeathify spell, her eyes default to brown, suggesting that was her natural eye color before her death.
- This also applies to her clothing, which is only available to her when she's a ghost (which is why it disappears if she is resurrected via Dedeathify). Alice's clothes are a Ghost Full Body outfit, which has a veil that covers her human face, skeletal hands, and lacks legs. Its colors can be seen by toggling the Ghost Overlay in CAS.
- Additionally, Memorial Photos of Alice (which can be made after befriending her ghost) will depict her wearing her ghost outfit without the ghost overlay. Unfortunately, there is no living version of her outfit (there is one for the second Full Body Ghost veil-less dress with skeletal hands and no legs).
- Like Mimsy, Alice can be added to a household by resurrecting her with Dedeathify, then proposing after becoming romantic partners, and then eloping, which will allow her to be added to the current household. Unlike Mimsy, Alice is unmarried and thus courting her is much easier.
- Alice's daughter Edith is confirmed to have had the last name Basu on her gravestone, so it can be inferred that Alice's last name was also Basu, though it's possible that Edith was given her father's surname, and Alice's last name is something else.
- The same is the case for Alice's other three children; they may or may not have had the last name Basu as well.
- When added to a household, Alice has no surname entered, though Basu can be entered at the player's discretion.
