Lounges are a group of similar lot assignments introduced in The Sims 3: Late Night and The Sims 3: Supernatural. In The Sims 4, lounge is a lot assignment that has no variations, but are otherwise similar to the game's bars and nightclubs.
The Sims 3
In The Sims 3, lounges are represented by martini glass map tags. These venues attract celebrities and serve drinks provided by the Mixology skill.[TS3:LN]
These are the highest class of juice-selling venue but also the most exclusive. Every pre-made lounge in Bridgeport has a bouncer, and the price of food and drink is notably expensive. Each type of lounge offers an exclusive preset selection of Mixology drinks.
Lounges in Bridgeport and Moonlight Falls open at 2 PM and close at 2 AM the next day, making them the first juice-selling venues to shut their doors at night. The lounges in Bridgeport feature concert stages for bands to play on at gigs, and for NPC pianists to play the piano.
A distinct subcategory of lounges is introduced in The Sims 3: Into the Future under the name Future lounge.

Human and vampire celebrities or anyone willing to pay a small bribe are allowed in the common area of the Japanese-themed Banzai Lounge, which features a dance area and tables for shuffleboard and foosball. Human Sims with at least 3-stars of celebrity status (or §100 to spare) are allowed into the VIP backroom, where the arcade and bubble bar are held. Curiously, this is the only lowest-class nightclub that only let in celebrities. It is also the most expensive nightclub to buy at §150,000.
Inside, the color green is prominently featured in lighting and furniture. There are various sculptures and decorations. The building features a parking lot besides it.

As can be expected from any exclusive lounge, The Prosper Room is the hardest venue to get into, requiring a hefty bribe just to enter the main room. The common room is open to Sims as lowly as 2-star celebrities, but only contains a small dance area for entertainment. 5 and even 4 star celebrities are allowed access to the exclusive second story, where they can enjoy a bubble bar, a hot tub, and a wall-mounted television. No amount of money will grant lesser Sims entry to this fabled place unless they own the venue. Decoration for this venue seems to be inspired by art-deco.
Lounge in Moonlight Falls
The prebuilt lounge in Moonlight Falls does not have celebrity level thresholds, occult limitations, or VIP rooms, since the barrier rope objects were only included in The Sims 3: Late Night.

The Red Velvet Lounge is a vampire lounge in Moonlight Falls. It does not require any celebrity level for a Sim to go through the lounge. It also appears in the lot bin for players to place it on other neighborhoods.
Red Velvet Lounge contains three basic bars in the far-left corner, complete with a sink and a fridge. In front of the bar area are several sets of tables and chairs. Each table has 2 chairs. At the back of the lounge, a door enters out to a garage area, which contains a foosball table and some tables. The lounge also has some amenities at the rooms connected to the main area, such as magical mirror, guitar, chess, phonograph, and Bonehilda's coffin.
Red Velvet Lounge doesn't support features from Late Night, and therefore it lacks some features that are used for the Plasma 501. For example, it doesn't have any barrier ropes that connect to any VIP rooms. The lounge also lacks band area for Sims to perform a band gig.
Lounges in Oasis Landing
Loel's Lounge in Oasis Landing.
Oasis Landing features 3 lounges that all have the "Future Lounge" lot assignment. They differ somewhat from the lounges in the earlier expansion packs as their opening hours are 9 AM - 3 AM, there are no entry limitations (Same as Red Velvet Lounge), they cannot host Late Night-type band gigs without mods, and the serving of drinks is mostly based around drink synthesizers.
The Sims 4
Lounges return in The Sims 4 and are represented by a microphone map tag. They are a perfect place to meet friends, have dates and to practice the mixology skill with the bar. Lounges also include instruments and microphones for Sims to play, sing and tell jokes.
If the player owns The Sims 4: Bowling Night Stuff and places a bowling lane in a lounge, other Sims will come to the lounge specifically to bowl, in addition to the other behavior on the lot. This also works for nightclubs and bars.
With The Sims 4: Get Famous expansion pack, lounges that have the "Up-and-Coming Hotspot" lot trait will host Meet a Celebrity events, while lounges that have the "Hottest Spot In Town" lot trait will host the Starlight Accolades awards ceremony.
With The Sims 4: Lovestruck expansion pack, Sims can Seductive Dance at Lounges without unlocking the interaction from the Romance Skill first. They can also do this at Bars, Karaoke Bars, and Nightclubs.
