Volcano Island is the third major island present in The Sims 2: Castaway.
Volcano Island is aptly named, featuring a large, prominent volcano that serves as its primary landmark. Much of the landscape is rocky and brown in color, with anchored boulders, and natural hot springs spread throughout the island. Although the island is characterized by rugged terrain, most of the areas feature flat ground to account for hut-building.
Volcano Island was formerly inhabited by the now-dispersed Llama people, remnants of whose settlements are still visible throughout the island. The interior of the volcano once served as their temple, and monolithic llama statues can still be found strewn along the island's shores.
The island is also the only location where the game's endings can be reached.

Temple Exterior is a location on the eastern part of Volcano Island. It consists of a large staircase, with a cauldron filled with magma in the center; as its name suggests, the stairwell leads to the Ancient Llama Temple, though its interior cannot be entered without first assembling the Ancient Stele. Tuscan pillars line the entrance, of which one has crumbled, while its walls are decorated in sacred imagery.
According to the official Prima guide, the cauldron's placement indicates that the temple was historically a formidable stronghold. Most resources are strewn along the mountainside.
The exterior of the temple can be accessed by strenuously climbing the ancient stairway from Volcano Overlook. At the base of the staircase is the narrow path to the Ancient Theater.

Ancient Theater is a relatively small amphitheatre, nestled near the Temple Exterior. Sims with a level 10 body skill can perform a ceremonial dive off the cliff to reach the Tidal Pool.
The vestigial remains of the amphitheatre have mostly eroded over time, as its auditorium has largely been overtaken by flourishing vegetation. As a consquence, an abundance of useful resources can be harvested despite the relatively small terrace, including coffee beans and orchid plants for dying clothes.

Tidal Pool is comprised of a large waterfall. Along with Crystal Island, the elusive tiger shark can be found swimming around the basin.
Upon diving into the pool, a piece of the treasure map will automatically be collected; however, the map is incomplete, as a shark devoured the other piece. To retrieve the missing half, the player must fish in the water and catch a shark.
The Prima guide refers to the location as Tidal Pools, which may have been its original name.

North Volcano Beach is the final beach of the game, and where the player can achieve the second ending by assembling a catamaran.
Like the southern beach, a lone monolithic llama head rests along the ridge of the coast. Somewhat further offshore is a covert cove leading to the Tidal Pool; this path is the only land entrance to the pool, as the other portal requires diving from the Ancient Theater's precipice.
After venturing into the sea, the HMS Amore will spot the catamaran, rescuing the onboard crew.
