Embarrassed is an emotion available in The Sims 4. It generally occurs when embarrassing situations happen to the Sim, such as embarrassing conversations, privacy violations involving Sims without a romantic relationship, or when a Sim pees themselves. This emotion can evolve into Very Embarrassed and then Mortified with enough moodlet points.
Mortified Sims that are Young Adult or older can die if they remain in the emotional state for too long. Shameless Sims cannot be inflicted with any Embarrassed moodlets, making them unable to enter this emotional state. Children and Teens may cry from embarrassment. [TS4:PH]

- Embarrassed: 1-3, 1-2 for Teens
- Very Embarrassed: 4-7, 3-5 for Teens
- Mortified: 8+, 6+ for Teens

In addition to above activities, the following will help relieve Embarrassment (also available to Sims that don't feel Embarrassed at the moment):
- Wearing the Celestial Crystal Crown with mounted Emerald or Jade [TS4:GF]
Interactions with Embarrassed Sims
Sims will only have a chance to use these interactions with an embarrassed Sim.
- Discuss Embarrassing Mood [TS4:PH]
- Laugh at Embarrassment (children, teens and Insensitive sims only) [TS4:PH]
Supportive Traits
These traits affect how often a Sim is embarrassed.
- Loner and Socially Awkward[TS4:HSY] Sims tend to get embarrassed during social interactions.
- Kleptomaniac Sims will be embarrassed when they are caught.
- Unflirty Sims will become embarrassed if they receive a failed romantic interaction or failed reprimand public to other Sims.[TS4:CL]
- Freegan Sims will get embarrassed from cooking without using fresh ingredients.[TS4:EL]
- Green fiend Sims will get embarrassed when using too much utilities according to the billing cycle.[TS4:EL]
- Child of the village Sims will get embarrassed if they're missing Tomarani cultural activities for a long time.[TS4:FR]
- Shameless Sims will never get embarrassed.
- Sims with the Good Manners trait will get embarrassed if they do a gross action, give a rude introduction to a Sim or Shout Forbidden Words.[TS4:PH]
Object Auras
There are items found, bought, or earned in the game that can emit an embarrassment aura in the area around the object. Players can choose to enable or disable the aura at any time. Once enabled, a Sim can interact with the object, through viewing or using it, and they will earn an embarrassed moodlet. Whether their mood changes to embarrassed or not depends on other moodlets affecting the Sim at that time.
The following objects emit an aura that makes Embarrassment fade:
- Jewelry and gemstones crafted from Alabaster or Ruby. Jewelry effects are only active when being worn, and gemstones only active when Sims are nearby them. [TS4:CCS]
Dying From Embarrassment
When Sims are mortified, they have a chance of dying of embarrassment (Ultimate Mortification). Some common examples of getting mortified are:
- Peed Self! [+5]
- Rejected wedding proposal
- Privacy Invaded/Cannot Unsee (using restroom or doing WooHoo and getting walked in by someone or walking in on them during such actions) [+1]
- Failed mischief interactions (hacking, prank calls, etc.) [varies]
- Getting caught cheating
- Strange Reflection after admiring self in the mirror (Confident Mood)
- Debug cheat [+1/?/+100 depending on the inputted stage]
- Feeling Frumpy
- Getting confronted by Loyal Sims
- Wearing the Hat of Shame
- Doing one or more of a Club's Banned Activities during a Club Gathering [TS4:GT]
- Sang Karaoke Poorly [+1] [TS4:CL]
- Stop Looking at Me! [+50] (Teens only. However, it gives them the Mortified emotion, but teens cannot die from emotional deaths) [TS4:PH]
- Poser! (From a non-celebrity sim living on a celebrity lot) [TS4:GF]
- Suffering the side effect of drinking a potion: [TS4:ROM]
- Potion of Good Fortune
- Potion of Magical Aura
- Potion of Alluring Aura

- Receiving a detention while in school [TS4:HSY]
As mentioned above, the Shameless trait protects a Sim from all Embarrassed moodlets. As a result, it also eliminates the risk of death from being mortified.
Careers and Jobs
No careers benefit from the Sim being embarrassed or having it as their ideal emotion.

- Internally, Very Embarrassed is referred to as "Humiliated".
- Mortified, unlike other level III intensity emotions, doesn't have a flickering border around the portrait frame.

"Embarrassed" namesake -20 moodlet for 3 hours is in The Sims 3, caused by various situations including, but not limited to, Bladder motive failure, walking in on someone in a bathroom or who are WooHoo-ing, having their clothes hid away while skinny dipping (in which case it will be a -15 moodlet), tomb evacuations,[TS3:WA] or a 2.08% chance when eating a jelly bean.[TS3:SN]
