Deer appear wandering in the player's home neighborhood following the installation of The Sims 3: Pets. Sims can watch or shoo them, and can pet them if they have a high enough hidden wildlife skill. They may have a wish to watch or pet deer. Deer will hop rather than run, and will usually eat plants in a garden, though they can be kept out by building fences and locking gates. Deer cannot be kept as pets or hunted for venison.
Watching and petting deer raises a Sim's hidden wildlife skill.
Internally, all male deer are named "Bambi" and female deer are named "Bambina". However, on mouse-over, their tooltip will always display their name as "Deer".
Based on the shape of the antlers, they appear to be white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus).
Using cheats/mods to kill a deer will result in an extremely glitchy ghost.
