A police department, also known as a police station, is a rabbit hole in The Sims 3 and a lot assignment in The Sims 4: Get to Work.

The Sims 3

The police department is the workplace for Sims pursuing a career in law enforcement. It also serves as the destination for Sims who are arrested and sent to jail. In Sunset Valley, the police department is located near the town square and the city hall. Despite the information given in the pre-order preview poster, it is situated quite far from the abandoned warehouse.

Much like the science lab, there is a police logo displayed, adorned in Simlish writing, on the front of the building's façade. Sometimes, a police cruiser can park near the building; a Sim recieves a personal version as a reward for reaching level 5 of the law enforcement career.

Having a job in this building may cause Sims to be distrusted by Evil Sims or any Sim who is working in the Criminal career.

If The Sims 3: Ambitions is installed, the player can join the Investigator profession by going to the police station.

There is no police department building in Bridgeport, Appaloosa Plains, Starlight Shores, Moonlight Falls, Isla Paradiso, and Sugar Maple Coast. Sims living in these worlds and working for the police department instead work at the City Hall, as it contains the combined police department and military base.

The Sims 4: Get to Work

Police station is a special lot assignment in The Sims 4: Get to Work, accessible for Sims working in the detective career. There is only one police station in the game, which is located in one of the Office Site sub-neighborhoods. The lot assignment can't be given to other lots without mods, so they are not available anywhere else.
